Wow, a Whole Nuther Week Gone By

Excuse me whilst I pat meself on the back. As of this morning, I managed to lose 5.5 pounds since starting the diet contest last Thursday.

Of course, being sick all week and basically everything I ate coming right back up for a day and a half did not hurt the cause, I am sure. And not even a stomach bug. It's allergies/sinus infection crap, yet AGAIN, and coughing fits so bad that... well, everything comes back up. Or did. Better now, and back at work yesterday and today. Room for improvement still, though.

Shhhh, this is a secret... but I have another foster dog. His name is Fred. (For the record, this foster I did not get to name myself) Fred is believed to be a Boston Terrier/boxer mix. That seems right, he certainly seems a cross between my foster boxer Randi and my Boston, Tucker. (Hehehe, Tucker. I didn't name Tucker, either. Care to guess what Tucker's nickname is? **grin**) He is 8 months to a year old, they say, and was due to be put down after 2:00 on the day I agreed to foster him.

I know, I know, I have too many dogs. I didn't MEAN to agree to foster another one. It just HAPPENED. You know. "They are going to euthanize him after 2:00 today if I don't pull him" just tends to tear at your heartstrings. Actually I had agreed to foster one for them for 3 to 4 months for a lady who was leaving an abusive relationship and couldn't take her dog with her. Turns out she went to her parents instead of her brother's and got to take the dog. So then they asked me to foster this one. Anyway.

Haven't made it to the State Fair yet to see my prize-winning photo on display. I took off work early on Tuesday planning to go right after the kid got out of school but ended up leaving early sick instead. Now I am hoping to go tomorrow. This weekend is the last weekend and we are going to visit Phillip on Sunday so it's today or never.

And all I really want to do is have an evening without the kid and drink that giant bottle of wine that I bought...

"It Was a Boring Meeting"

Said my boss of the 3-day partner retreat he just returned from.

"Well, did you do ANYthing fun?" I asked.

"Got drunk," said he.

There's a Reason Diet has DIE in it

Diets should not be begun on Thursdays. I've never started a diet on anything but a Monday. Mondays suck anyway, and should be thus reserved as a day for all sucky things. Which is probably why most of my diets last exactly half a day.

But alas, I find myself in a contest of sorts to find the "biggest loser" among our cozy group of 3. Whomever loses the largest percentage of body weight in the next 2 weeks, wins a $100 gift card to a fancy mall. Ah, incentive.

It would have been nice to know this YESTERDAY though. So I wouldn't have eaten that sausage biscuit this morning, and that coffee with mega creamer in it, before I learned of impending diet. Plus I still have that carton of chocolate chip ice cream in my freezer at home. And had I known yesterday was my last real lunch for awhile, I would have eaten at Potbelly and not something out of the microwave.

But 2 weeks isn't forever.

It is just too bad I can't lose 40 pounds by Saturday.

Yes, big and unexpected happenings coming up this weekend. I'll have to elaborate on that later though.

God Love the Flea Flicker

Except when it's the opposing team who has successfully executed it. I noted a couple of flea flickers in watching the NFL highlights Sunday evening.

Ok, yes, I did watch the majority of the much-hyped return of TO to Philly. About what I expected. Lots of hype, and TO basically didn't do shit. He had lots of opportunities to catch stuff, but failed to do it. So the talk of "the crowd doesn't really bother me" is BS because he doesn't typically go around dropping shit all day. And mis-running routes causing interceptions. Etcetera.

The real irritation of the game for me was when Glenn just almost caught that ball - and he may have; I don't think they ever determined whether he did or not - but they didn't have to determine that, because the Cowboys got the pass interference call. For a LOT of yards. Note, had Glenn caught that ball I probably would have won my fantasy football game.

THANKS, guy who interfered on Glenn. So yes, I still have reasons to hate the Eagles.

Have I mentioned lately (and yes, I know that Sunday's game was a close one for them and how embarrassing would THAT have been for their first loss to come to the Titans after the Cowboys spanked them the week before so thank God that didn't happen) that...

My Colts remain undefeated

Me Among Them

I'll bet there are tons of brides out there who WISH someone had done this for them:

SALT LAKE CITY (Oct. 4) - A pre-wedding shopping trip for a 21-year-old bride ended with felony charges against her parents, who she says kidnapped her and drove her 240 miles to Colorado, trying to talk her out of the nuptials along the way and holding her until she missed the ceremony.

Well That's a Fine Kettle of Fish!

One of my favorite bloggers has shut down her blog.

No warning. Well, at least, *I* had no warning. I got really busy and didn't get to read blogs for about a week, so she might have said goodbye, I dunno.

But I am really sad. Not only do I not know how it ended as it were, I never got the opportunity to go back and read all the stuff I missed prior to the time I started reading it.

How could you DO this, Christine?

I'd link ya, but there's nothin' left to link to.

ACK.

Exxon, you STILL suck, and I am SOOOOO not surprised

ExxonMobil, the company that announced jaw-dropping profits of $18.7 billion for the first half of 2006, said in June that it would fight the U.S. Justice Department over $92 million that the government said the company owes in the still-uncompleted 1989 Exxon Valdez oil-spill cleanup. Ouch! Well ok, it doesn't hurt. And Colin, don't worry, I don't hate you, could never hate ya :)

So this is a word association game, and the words are:

Music -> relaxing. Unless you're at a stop light and some ass hole is blasting their shit for all to hear and you can't hear your own. Then I wanna kick some ass.
Karma -> may it bite certain people I am thinking of in the ass hehe
Time -> should only exist in cincrements of p.m.
Angel -> the kid. Except for when she is a devil
Blue -> jeans. My favorite

Monday is not a good day for these things... I just counted the word "ass" 3 times in my responses.

Ok, so, no one I know will ever respond to this anyway but I guess I am supposed to throw it out there.

So... Crystal, Stacey, Jennifer, Paul, Danelle... get cracking. Here are your words:

Purple
Space
Fate
Smiley
Monday

I can't wait to read the responses to Monday.
