So much for 2007

It's been a little while since I've written, as you can see. I am sure my 5 or so readers gave up on me long ago.

I'm not really sure why I'm writing now, as I certainly don't have anything fun to entertain you with. Kid stuff, boxer stuff, the usual stuff is all I have going on. No rat stories or the like, thank God. Knock knock knocking on wood. I was able to contribute a lot of information to our recent boxer group discussion of rats though. Hoo-freaking-ray. There are so many other things out there I would far rather have experience in!

We survived Christmas and the kid's and my birthdays. She turned 7 the end of December had a birthday party at Build-A-Bear Workshop last weekend that she had an awesome time at. I about choked on the bill, but she had a great time and so did her friends, lots of smiles, so that is what matters. I don't have my camera with me or I would post a pic, maybe later. The party lasted forever though, and I'm getting too old to handle that much kid fun at once. I wonder what she will pick next year? I am going to have to make her get a job to help me pay for it.

One of my boxer fosters, Phoebe, is getting adopted tomorrow night. I have had her for 7 months so I am sure she will be happy to get out of the zoo and go to her forever home! I will miss her but will be happy to be minus a boxer, as I currently have 4 boxer fosters in addition to my own boxers and I really need to have less. I am hoping to get another foster adopted soon and keep it at no more than 2 boxer fosters max. I'm not sure why I had Phoebe so long, she is wonderful, but the picture on her web page did not do her justice. I finally took some new pics that they posted last week and suddenly she had meet and greets all over the place and now she is getting adopted. I'm following the others around with the camera until I get cute pics of them like these of Phoebe.

More soon. Maybe one of these days I will have something entertaining to say.

So Much for May

I'm doing really well at posting something every day as you can see. NOT. I do have something kind of fun to post though.

The other afternoon while driving from work to get the kid, I had a local radio station on, and decided to try to call in when they asked for callers for a game they play every afternoon. I have no idea why I tried to dial in, I never do, but on this day I did, and to my surprise it started to ring on the first try. I figured I was about to get one of those "all circuits are busy now" messages, but the DJ actually answered. So then I am scrambling, saying "hold on, I have to roll the window up and turn the radio down, hang on, HANG ON PLEASE!" He did, fortunately, and I ultimately won the game, and an in-studio meet and greet with country music singer Miranda Lambert the next day. I could bring 1 person of my choosing.

I didn't tell the kid until that morning, and she was SOOOO excited. They taped an interview while we were in the studio which aired the next morning. Miranda also sang a couple of songs, one of which is one of the kid's favorites and so she was dancing around and singing along. Afterwards, she got her picture with Miranda and an autograph. Miranda's guitar player thought the kid was so cute and teased her that she should go out on the road with them for a few days. Unfortunately she then thought she was actually going somewhere because she is still learning what teasing is. Sometimes that is a problem which leads to a fit, but not on this day. She had this cheese smile on her face pretty much the whole day.

OMG When Did it Get to be MAY?

I'm not sure where the time goes anymore. Seems like I just blogged that entry about the doggies and now that was like 6 weeks ago and it is May already. Let's pretend I blogged yesterday and I'll try to drum something up every day in May. No, really.

Let's see. Current goings on. Busy with dog stuff, as usual. Of the fosters I posted about last, I have only Millie left. Remy and Molly got adopted, and Chumley went to another foster home. He got to be a bit...much. I love the boy to pieces but he was SO rowdy with my dogs they didn't like him, and it resulted in him not getting to be out as much as either he or I would have liked. He is doing much better at his new foster home and hopefully will have a forever home soon. Now, I have Millie still, Trinnie, Tramp, and am fostering another Boston for that rescue, Opie. My Bostons come pre-named so leave me alone. I call him Opie Dokie. I'll post pics later.

What else? Got my tax refund on Friday. Putting most of it aside for a trip to lovely Phoenix, Arizona soon. Why am I going to Phoenix, you ask? Well, that is where they decided to send Phillip. You know, the charming BOP who per their own literature claim that they will do their best to place your loved one at least within 500 miles of where they are from. Phoenix isn't even close to the same REGION. BAH. Anyway, he is out of max now and into medium, and it sounds as though it is like a zillion times better for him in every way except us not being able to visit frequently.

The kid is almost done with kindergarten, their last day is May 25 I think. Wow. Where did the school year go? Where does time ever go? Yet there are people who, alternately, think time is dragging, Phillip for one.

Apparently Some Are More Dedicated to Their Blogs Than I...

Wow, Another Post Already!

Blah.

I have a ton of crap to do and I don't feel like doing any of it. So I guess I might as well post.

Of course I have nothing to say. A lot has happened since I've been busy not posting but not in the mood to go into it, nor am I sure anyone cares. Hey, I know, how about some cute foster doggy pictures?

This is my Millie. Millie Vanilli as I call her. She is about 4 or 5 and a total sweetheart. She's like Cesar in that she just gets along with all of the other doggies. She's such a good girl, a great snuggler. She has heartworms and will need to go through heartworm treatment soon :(

This is Chumley. My Chumley Bumley. He is about a year old and a total wild man. Just got him over a urinary tract infection so he isn't messing his crate up anymore (which required me to take it outside to clean up to 3 or 4 times a day so I am unbelievably thrilled he is better). He's too playful to play with any of the other doggies, he is just all over them and they don't like that. He's a doll though.

This is Remington, or Remy for short. He is my big goofy foster boxer. He was adopted and returned 3 days later, which is why I have 3 boxer fosters. I don't understand how anyone could return him, he is a total love bug, but the lady was afraid he would hurt her smaller dogs. I don't think so. He will give a warning growl if somebody's getting in his face but he's never offered to hurt any of them. (loud knocking of wood because I stupidly typed that out loud)

And lastly...

But not least, Molly, my 12-week-old Boston Terrier foster. Cute, cute, cute. Need I say more? She has already been adopted, sight unseen. As if anyone could meet her and decide they don't want her!

Ok, that's all I have for today. I have to go clean out my car and my truck so I can loan my mom my car for a few days because hers blew up. More on that later. (Got your attention, didn't I? You'll be back)

I've Been Shamed into Posting Something

Ok, I know, it's been over a month since I've posted anything, and even my last post was photo montage. Note it was posted during prime time on Valentine's day if that tells you anything. Anyway I know the world is curious about what's going on in my oh-so-exciting world and you're just waiting on pins and needles for an update.

Uh huh. RIGHT.

I guess I can start posting again now that I finally got my friend's divorce paperwork done. How could I possibly spend time posting anything when she's waiting on me to finish her paperwork and I could have been working on that instead of wasting time here?

Anyway. I finally got my washing machine fixed yesterday. Yes, I'll wait while you scroll down to see when I first posted about it being broken. Actually I'll save you the trouble - it was on February 8. Yes, a full 5 weeks later, Conn's finally managed to fix it.

What have I done for 5 weeks without a washing machine, you ask? Ah, but alas, I have not been without for "quite" that long. After Conn's showed up to fix it after taking almost 3 weeks to get the part, they realized they needed another part, I about had a meltdown. I immediately called a local rental place and rented one for a month. I mean, enough is enough already, and at that point it was TOTALLY worth $2.50 a day for a month to have a washing machine. They delivered and installed it without 2 hours of my calling and it was awesome. Go, ColorTyme.

My anger and wrath have since been re-directed from Whirlpool to Conn's. Long story short, the guy came out and diagnosed that "something" had chewed a hole in one of the hoses. He ordered the hose and finally came back almost 3 weeks later, when he then determined that he in fact needed 2 hoses, the other of which also had to be ordered. He finally came back yesterday and fixed it.

Suffice it to say that I'm not buying anything from Conn's that I might actually need worked on at some point. So that leaves what that I can buy from them, a new mattress? For one, I had to call Conn's about when in the hell the part was coming in, and they were like "oh, we're sorry, it came in 4 days ago, we've been busy."

As for the "something" that chewed the hose? No more. My uncle came and rat-proofed the bottom of the washer with a metal mesh. Even Left little sharp meshy teeth sticking out the sides of the bottom underneath so if they dare try they'll get poked. (Not sticking out TOO far, I don't wanna get poked. Well, not by that) Also, the dishwasher is now rodent-proofed too.

For the record, the washing machine I rented is a Frigidaire, and do you know they have sense enough to pre-rodent-proof the bottom of their machines? Uh huh. You know Whirlpool could have been that smart. The repair guy said that for some reason, rats "go for" the type of rubber Whirlpool uses. Why didn't they put a nifty metal plate cover over the bottom of theirs like Frigidaire? GO, Frigidaire. I know what I'm buying next time.

As to the rodent situation... I haven't caught anything in the multitude of traps or otherwise seen any casualties, but neither have I heard any funny ratty noises since Maggie the Jack Russell Terrier came on the scene. Long story.

Maggie was running around my neighborhood, in the street, on a cold day and what was I supposed to do? I left a note on the door of the house I thought was her home, and they called later and the lady said that they had found her too and had been taking care of her, trying to find her owner, but they couldn't keep her. I said I couldn't keep her either. The lady hung up on me. NICE. So almost a month later Maggie is still at my house, and I only thought I'd be keeping her for an hour or two until her nice owners got home.

I put out flyers and a newspaper ad and posted her online, and all I got for my trouble was a lot of SPAM. I'm tempted to keep Maggie since she is good for the freaky noises problem, but she can be a little pain in the butt. She has to be on my lap or on my pillow or under my feet ALL Of the time, and she's a leaker. She dribbles on my floor (or my couch, or basically wherever she is, including my pillow, so thank God and ColorTyme I had a washer) any time I approach her. But she's cute. And sweet. And I haven't heard any funny noises in some time (for the record, you didn't read what you just read because I didn't say what I just said because saying that would jinx it). Hmmm, the pros and cons of Maggie seem to be about even, though I have to admit the lack of funny noises of late bears a ton of weight in itself. She might have to stay awhile...

On the other hand, if you know anyone... but I reserve the right to borrow her sometimes.

Ahem

So, could you tell I was a little pissed off yesterday? Just a little.

So here I sit in mis-matched clothes (you think I am kidding, I assure you, I'm not) and frankly I am no less pissed off today.

I called them back this morning and explained as nicely as I could through gritted teeth that I simply cannot wait until Tuesday for someone to come out, I have company coming in next weekend and lots to do before then, much of which involves my washing machine, and not only that I need clothes to wear and I simply and canNOT wait to have my washer fixed. So then she said someone can come on Monday. Well fucking yippee. How come yesterday they said Tuesday, then?

To top that off, there was a hissing sound coming from underneath my kitchen sink this morning for which I could not find the source. No water anywhere that I could see, at least. My uncle is on the case and should be calling me soon.

Yay.
